Bache-Gabrielsen American Oak Cognac
For those who are already familiar with this famous producer, skip to the next paragraph. For the rest, read on. Bache-Gabrielsen is a brand of cognac that started in 1905 by a then 22 year old Norwegian named Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, in partnership with a Peter Anton Rustad. Today the company is still family owned and is immensely popular in Europe, with fan clubs (yes, fan clubs!) and numerous gold medals from top award shows.
2016 marks the first year this producer entered the market. And as a nod to the event, it has launched an innovative new cognac which is finished in authentic new American Tennessee Oak barrels for a minimum of six months. While remaining true to the ancestral methods of the blending of the liquid, this unique eau de vie incorporates both a traditional and new approach to cognac. It has distinct character from the American oak, with delicate tropical flavors of coconut and pineapple, which blends beautifully with the French oak flavors of vanilla, cocoa and nuts.
“We’ve spent over a century perfecting our taste and expanding our offerings,” said Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, company president. “Bringing my family business to a critical market like the United States is a milestone for the brand, and we felt releasing American Oak was not only fitting for the occasion, but is evidence of our mission to consistently innovate while still honoring the tradition of this cherished spirit.”
