    KAIYo

    Kaiyō The Peated

    $ 124.99
    Kaiyo The Peated is matured initially for two years in ex-Madeira wine barrels to impart a sweetness and softening balance to its level of peat. It is then transferred to Japanese Mizunara Oak, where it continues to mature for the rest of its days until Kaiyo's Master Blender deems it ready for bottling and enjoyment. All of our whiskies are made from malted barley, remain un-chillfiltered, and enjoy a three-month ocean maturation that helps bring out the unique flavors that can only be obtained from Mizunara Oak. Tasting Notes: Commonly and enthusiastically nick0named the “Sweet Peat”. On the nose, peat is present, but is finely balanced with exotic fruit notes and rich honey. On the palate, this whisky is deceivingly light and clean with fruit flavors of apple, coconut, pineapple, burnt orange and watermelon with a lingering smoke that compliments the sweet components perfectly. Ratings / Awards: -Whisky Advocate Rating 90 pts -Wine Enthusiast Rating 92 pts -Double Gold Medal, San Francisco WSC 2020 -Best Japanese Whisky NAS 2nd Place, International Whisky Competition 2020 -Best Pure Malt Japanese Whisky 2nd Place, International Whisky Competition 2020 -Best Japanese Whisky 3rd Place, International Whisky Competition 2020 -Gold Medal WSWA 2019 ABV: 46.0%
