Domaine Sainte Marie is located just 15km outside of Saint Tropez and has created the exceptional VieVite and VieVite Extraordinaire cuvee. The estate is an oasis that harmonizes a pure relationship with nature and boasts an anthology of exceptionally old vineyards. The grapevines average 25 years in age and they are nurtured by the natural cycle of heat and dry weather in the summer and mildly cool temperatures in the winter.
The history of the Domaine Sainte Marie dates back to the eighteenth century when the land belonged to the La Verne monastery.
In 1884 a terrible cholera epidemic blew across the region wiping out almost all of the vineyards in the area; miraculously, the virus spared Domaine Sainte Marie and allowed its vines to flourish and grow despite the rest of the regions devastation. In recognition of its savior, Domaine Sainte Marie was named after the Virgin St. Mary with a statue erected of her and still remaining there today at the gates of the winery.
Several generations of winemakers have subsequently succeeded to develop an exceptional terroir and produce high quality wines.
What gives the VieVite wines such superb complexity is the rare collection of the grapes that are used in the wines: Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Carignan, and Mourvedre.
The vines on the estate are 25-80 years old and benefit from the combination of heat and dry weather in the summer and cold climate with the slopes and sea breezes protecting the vines from freezing in the winter.
Domaine Sainte Maries vineyards stretch over 40 hectares of land. With a magnificent southern exposure and soft rolling slopes, the land consists of micha-schists, schists and white quartz.
The vines are under constant control in an effort to produce the finest wines that reflect the exquisite land and extraordinary grapes. Harvests are performed at night and the wines are always kept under thermal control. With the use of a pneumatic press, stainless tanks, semi-buried tanks and constant human control, Domaine Sainte Marie is able to create nothing less than the highest quality wines that reflect the exquisite land. From the vine to the bottle, intricate precision is executed each step of the way.
VieVite offers a fresh and delicate aroma of cherries and strawberries with notes of spices to create a satisfying sensation on the palate. It is paired best with any grilled dish and is great served as an aperitif with a tapenade spread. Drink young and chilled.
