    Cupano

    Cupano Sant'Antimo Ombrone 2013

    $ 64.99

    Ornella Tondini and Lionello Cousin’s small estate Cupano is situated towards the southwestern border of Montalcino, perched on a hill facing the Maremma and the confluence of the Orcia and Ombrone valleys, with stunning views over Mount Amiata, the castle of Poggio alle Mura and the ancient village of Camigliano. It is one of the most charming estates to visit in Montalcino, producing outstanding Brunello which stands out for its individual character and personality. Cupano pursues biodynamic farming in its 3ha of vineyards which are among the most densely planted in the region. The Brunello, from minuscule yields, undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrique where it also ages on its lees. The wines are above all elegant, beautifully balanced with ripe tannins and fruit, well-structured, layered with depth and extremely drinkable. Prices are relatively high, but worth it!
